Liberty Harley-Davidson to Host Checkpoint for World Record Ride

Starting at the Daytona International Speedway on September 9th, 2011 with a media send off, The Guinness World Record Ride will embark on it's national journey around America with one goal in mind - to raise a million dollars for EACH of three worthy causes: (1) victims of domestic violence, (2) homeless veterans and (3) breast cancer patients. COWGIRLS GIT R DUN, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to these causes and is attempting to break several GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS in the process.

Leaving from Daytona, FL on Sept. 9, The World Record Ride will travel across 35 states in 35 days arriving in Rahway, NJ on Sept. 13. This historical adventure will complete 8,625 miles plus a Broken Spoke, arriving back in Daytona for the opening day of Biketoberfest, on October 13th.

The National Homeless Veterans Support organization and its founder, George Taylor, will be helping to develop The Ride. George is also the Florida State Director of The Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was this year’s guest speaker for BOTH the National conventions of the VFW and the American Legion. Liberty Harley-Davidson will be working with local businesses and organizations to make the New Jersey checkpoint a positive experience for the riders. We need volunteers, promoters, and riders to assist in this event. For more information, or to offer assistance call or come by and talk to Paul or Michelle at Liberty Harley-Davidson – 732-381-2400.

We hope You will Help Us Help Them, and make History With Us.

More Harley-Davidson models with Twin Cam 103™ power in 2012

(7/20/2011) - MILWAUKEE - Harley-Davidson offers more Big Twin performance for 2012 as its Twin Cam 103™ powertrain is standard equipment on Softail ® and Touring motorcycle models and most Dyna® motorcycle models. Harley-Davidson will offer two new models for 2012. The V-Rod ® 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates a decade of power-cruiser performance, while the new Dyna ® Switchback is a convertible custom-touring motorcycle with detachable hard saddlebags and windshield. In addition, the Night Rod Special has significant updates for 2012 with refreshed bodywork and optimized rider ergonomics. Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) TM rolls out the gleaming new CVO Road Glide® Custom, a limited-production, high-performance touring masterpiece.

Harley-Davidson believes every motorcycle it sells can be a custom of one. Harley-Davidson H-D1™ is a comprehensive offering of customization tools for the Harley-Davidson motorcycle owner. H-D1 tools include Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories listings in print and on-line catalogs, Fit Shop and consultation services at Harley-Davidson dealerships, and factory customization and Bike Builder tools on harley-davidson.com. H-D1 offers almost unlimited opportunities to optimize fit, function, style and performance and turn a Harley into a motorcycle that is truly personalized to its owner.

Harley- Davidson heads into 2012 with 32 models, each born of experience that spans generations and a passion for riding that will never diminish.

Highlights of the 2012 Harley-Davidson line include:

  • The Twin Cam 103™ engine powers all 2012 Dyna®, Softail® and Touring models with the exception of the Dyna Street Bob® and Dyna Super Glide® Custom. This engine produces up to 100 ft lbs. peak torque,an increase of approximately 6 percent over the Twin Cam 96 engine it replaces as standard power for many of these models. The Twin Cam 103 is equipped with automatic compression release. It features identifying badges on the derby cover, timer cover and air cleaner trim ring.
  • A Security Package that pairs Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Smart Security System with proximity-based, hands-free security fob is available for all 2012 V-Rod ®,Dyna ®,Softail ®,Touring and CVO™ models. The Security Package is standard equipment on CVO™ models and on the Road Glide® Ultra, the Electra Glide® Ultra Limited, and the Road King® Classic. The Security Package is a factory-installed option for all other models.
  • The Night Rod ® Special is updated with new tapered tail section, lighter-weight wheels, an inverted front fork and improved ergonomics. Harley-Davidson celebrates a decade of power cruising with the V-Rod ® 10th Anniversary Edition motorcycle, finished in Brilliant Silver Pearl bodywork that evokes the anodized aluminum bodywork of the original V-Rod model that introduced the liquid-cooled Revolution V-Twin engine in 2002. All V-Rod models will carry V-Rod 10th Anniversary badges.
  • The new Dyna Switchback combines hard saddlebags and a windshield with the eager handling and Twin Cam 103 performance of the Dyna chassis. It’s a custom-touring bike ready for a long weekend trip, until the detachable bags and windshield are removed. Then in seconds the Switchback becomes a custom street cruiser with a gleaming headlamp nacelle,five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels and a mini-ape handlebar. This convertible concept makes the versatile Switchback two motorcycles in one.
  • All Harley-Davidson Softail models get the performance boost of the Twin Cam 103 engine for 2012. The Fat Boy and Fat Boy Lo have a new reduced-reach handlebar for more-comfortable ergonomics. A lower, narrower seat shape places the Fat Boy rider in a new "in the bike" position. The Softail Deluxe and Heritage Softail Classic will be available with a new optional "tubeless" Chrome Aluminum Profile Laced wheel option for ease of tire replacement and repair.
  • The Twin Cam 103 powertrain gives all Harley-Davidson Touring models assertive power for passing. On Touring models, the Twin Cam 103 is equipped with an oil cooler. All Touring models except the Ultra Limited will offer a new "tubeless" Chrome Aluminum Profile Laced wheel option.
  • The Harley-Davidson Sportster® line appeals to a broad range of riders with six 2012 models ranging from the race-inspired XR1200X™ to the accessible SuperLow ® to Dark Custom roadsters like the Iron 883™,Nightster® and Forty-Eight ®. The Sportster ® 1200 Custom can be personalized for fit, function and style with H-D1 factory customization, a process that allows customers to use the Bike Builder tool on harley-davidson.com to build the motorcycle from a selection of options that are installed as the bike is assembled by Harley-Davidson Motor Company or are installed by a dealer after the motorcycle is delivered. New 1200 Custom color options have been added to Bike Builder for 2012.
  • The new CVO Road Glide Custom is one of four limited-production 2012 models from Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) TM, each turned out with bold paint, gleaming chrome, and the most-powerful V-Twin engines offered in production Harley-Davidson motorcycles. CVO Road Glide Custom is a hot-rod bagger with a frame-mounted fairing topped with a smoked Wind Splitter windshield, a high-output, amplified Harman/Kardon® Advanced Audio system, and a color-matched, low-profile fuel tank console.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company produces heavyweight custom, cruiser and touring motorcycles and offers a complete line of Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts, accessories, riding gear and apparel, and general merchandise. Start your ride at Liberty!

Now that the season is in full swing, and we’re open 7 days a week here at Liberty, we’re seeing more and more people meeting up in our lot for their weekend rides. And ya know what? We think it’s an awesome idea!

From Liberty HOG 12th Annual Toy Run 2010
In fact, if you let us know you’re coming, and how many are in your group, we can make sure we have coffee on – maybe even some donut holes – so that you can relax and get your ride started right.

We also have a new section of the website for local Biker events in the area. We still have the Liberty events section, but we’ve expanded it to include other events in the area, kinda like a “virtual” flyer spinner. You can even use it to share events via Facebook! So if you’re sponsoring a local run, stop by with a few flyers and we’ll pop them in our flyer stand by the coffeepot – and we’ll also post them on our website. You can also submit the info online!

Visit us online at www.libertyharley.com/info/events or give Paul a call at 732-381-2400, ext 34, for more information or to submit your ride! You can also send a pdf of the flyer to paul@libertyharley.com.

And make sure you check out the site for all the upcoming events in the area!

Hot Rods and Harleys Filled the Streets of Downtown Rahway

Despite the threat of a downpour, thousands of people filled the streets of Downtown Rahway for Hot Rods and Harleys this weekend. Hot custom bikes filled the Rahway Train Station Plaza, and the classic cars and hot rods lined the closed-to-traffic streets of downtown. And of course, the weather held throughout the day.

"I think it’s great, how many people came out even though they thought it would be a rainout. Seeing the streets of Downtown Rahway filled with people, families, it’s just a wonderful event," said Tom McTamney of the Rahway Center Partnership. Live music from five different bands filled the area, and people roamed the streets.

And it wasn’t just for the grown-ups! There was a "kids only" section featuring a bouncy house and all kinds of fun for the little ones. The vendors lined the streets, and the aromas of all the tasty treats available drifted all over town. The local restaurants and taverns took to the sidewalks, giving people a small sample of what they had to offer.

"The weather has so much to do with an event like this, but I wouldn’t hesitate to call it a success – again! It continues to be the premier event that Rahway has to offer, and I can’t wait to do it again next year!" said Tom.

Special thanks go out to all the sponsors, including RSI Bank, Northfield Bank, and Liberty Harley-Davidson, and also to the Rahway Arts District for all their help promoting the event, and to all the volunteers at the Rahway Center Partnership who worked so hard to make the event a success. And a very special thanks to the employees of the Rahway DPW and Rahway’s Police for giving up their Saturday to ensure the event was kept safe and clean for all the attendees.

Rent a Harley! An afternoon, a day, a week, or longer!

Located within Liberty’s service department, you’ll find an EagleRider Rentals booth. Never considered renting a Harley? Well, why not take a moment and think about it?

  • What do I need to rent a Harley?
You need a valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement. You also need to be 21 years old, and you need to have a credit card capable of being authorized for the security deposit. You need to be open to fun and excitement, and you need to be ready for an adventure. We’ll supply a helmet, a set of raingear (just in case!) and emergency roadside assistance (just in case!). Most models can be equipped with a GPS, available for a per-day fee.

  • What models do you have?
The fleet changes from year to year, but generally, we have Electra Glides, Road Kings, Street Glides, Heritage Softails, and a Sportster. Best bet is to plan ahead, especially during the busy July and August months, and make your reservation to firm up your model choice.

  • Isn’t it kinda expensive?
Well, it depends on your perspective. It’s less of an investment than purchasing a Harley, and less of a commitment. But – ALL of the fun! Keep an eye out for “Hot Deals” offered both by Liberty and by EagleRider corporate – you can watch for them on the EagleRider website. If you feel like taking a small trip, you can usually get a GREAT deal on a one-way back to Liberty, from places like L.A., New Orleans or Orlando*. We also have a midweek special to save you some money if you rent during the week.

  • But I already have a bike!
That’s OK – we won’t tell her. :) But seriously, why not try something new? People who have a Cruiser may want to take a long weekend on a Touring-style bike and take advantage of the storage. People who already have a Dresser might enjoy a few days of cruising on a Softail. Did you know that if you rent a bike from Liberty and decide to buy one, you can apply up to a day’s rental toward the purchase?** Find out more from our Sales Department – ask about the “Try before you Buy” program today!

Did you know:
…If you have a Harley-Davidson Extended Service Plan, you may qualify for a rental bike while your bike is being fixed for a covered repair?
…Liberty Service customers may qualify for a discounted rate while their bike is being serviced?
…Liberty EagleRider offers One-Way rentals to tons of other EagleRider locations across the country?

Visit us at www.libertyharley.com/eaglerider or call us at 732-381-2400, extension 38.
Follow us on Facebook!

Your adventure could begin today.

*One-Way specials are subject to availability, and on a first-come, first-served basis. Check www.eaglerider.com for the current list of specials, and check for EagleRider Newark, which is our location at Liberty.
**Bike must be purchased from Liberty within 30 days of the rental contract end date. You can be credited up to one rental day, depending on your rental period and fees charged. Some restrictions apply – contact a Salesman at 732-381-2400, or email us at

SO much going on in May!

May means a lot of things to a lot of people. But in the motorcycle world, it’s jam-packed with events, rides, runs, and adventure. The weather is warming up (and drying up!) and it’s time to RIDE!

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, to begin with, and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month is a national initiative aimed at getting motorists and motorcyclists to "share the road" with each other.” Initiatives nationwide are aimed at raising awareness among car and truck drivers that motorcycles are on the road, and have exactly the same rights as any other vehicle. We see motorcycles on the road, but the average car driver doesn’t seem to, as we all know, sadly, someone who was unseen by another driver at a critical moment. As riders we have to be hyper-vigilant when we ride, and can’t afford to lose our focus. You can get lots of safety tips by visiting the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s website – or maybe even brush up your skills with an Advanced Rider Course.

May is also Women Riders Month! More women than ever are grabbing the handlebars for themselves, and May is a celebration of this new population of riders. On May 14th, women from across the globe will come together to celebrate women riders. There’s no reason to wait another day if you’ve been dreaming of riding. You can visit Harley-Davidson’s Women Rider website, or find a local Rider Safety Course. Or, start with a Garage Party – a special Ladies Night where you can learn all about riding among other women, women who either ride, or want to ride, or think they may want to ride someday. Ask your questions, get your answers, all in a no-pressure event, complete with munchies. And then, Jump on the Jumpstart!

From Hot Rods and Harleys 2010
More locally, May means Hot Rods and Harleys in Downtown Rahway! Saturday, May 14th from 11am to 6pm, join 10,000+ of your closest friends and enjoy a Bike Show, Classic Car Show, live music all around town, street vendors, and all around good times! So far, we know that World Within will be playing the train station, and One Too Many will be downtown. We know the local taverns will be having specials all day, and the Union County Performing Arts Center is putting on a 70’s Tribute Band show on the night before, and a Doo Wop Spectacular that night. Visit the UCPAC website for all the info!

Liberty’s also getting in the Summer Line of clothing and gear – and it’s HOT! We’ve got a great selection of Men’s and Ladies’ clothing, and all the brand-new Summer Gear is arriving daily. We’ve got clothing for the whole family – including kids and the family pet. Everyone loves Harley.

Here’s wishing YOU an awesome riding season – why not make this the year you check out Laconia, or Sturgis, or Biketoberfest? Think of all the things you haven’t seen – or haven’t seen from a Harley. But most of all, make sure you have a SAFE riding season.

We hope to see you soon!

Garage Party – What on Earth?

Come to Liberty's Garage Party on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 6pm! Visit www.libertyharley.com/women

So you’ve been invited to a “Garage Party,” or perhaps you’ve seen one of our ads for a “Garage Party,” or, maybe you even heard about it on Fox and Friends last week. But what does it mean?

Do I have to have a license? A Harley? A motorcycle? Do I have to know a biker? Do I need a helmet??

The answer to everything above is – NO!

The “Garage Party” concept is something Harley-Davidson began as part of their Women Rider outreach. A few years ago, Harley figured out something that we’ve all known for a long time – women like to ride too! And not just as passengers!

It’s like a Tupperware Party, but instead of looking at food storage in someone’s basement, it’s checking out Harleys at our dealership! We can promise you it’ll be more exciting than keeping your veggies fresh!

Here’s a quick summary of what happens at one of Liberty’s Garage Parties:

Station 1 – Orientation
Our friend Shari, who’s a Rider Education instructor from the Riding Center, will give you a basic overview of the motorcycle, including identifying key components. She’ll let you know where the brakes, shifter, and throttle are located, and how they work together. You’ll get to sit on a bike, put your feet up, and see how it feels. Shari will also be happy to answer any questions you have.

Station 2 – Jumpstart Experience
This is a new station just added this year, but we’re very excited about it! This innovative piece of equipment allows a Harley to run up to 60mph without leaving the safety of the showroom. The bike is securely attached to the Jumpstart, and the rear wheel rides over a roller, allowing you to actually start up the bike, slam it into gear, and feel what it’s like to ride. You can get a feel for the clutch, the shifter and the gas, and take it through all the gears – no traffic, no trees, no weather – no nothing – and best of all, you don’t need a license, or any experience at all!

Station 3 – Fit Shop
Our Fit Shop will let you sit on a specially modified Harley, and then swap out key components such as the handlebars and seat, to find the combination that best suits you. We can also use special mats to simulate a lowering kit. The possibilities for modifying a Harley are almost endless – and with this station, you can see exactly which combination feels best for you.

Station 4 – Gear Up
What sort of gear do I need to ride safely? Our MotorClothes experts will give a demonstration of all the gear you need, and why it’s important. Things like how to properly fit a helmet, fashion leather vs. riding leather, eyewear, and many other topics will be covered. Speaking of “fashion leather”…

Station 5 – My Inner Biker Unleashed
Just for fun, why not grab your favorite “biker” gear and hop on one of our bikes? We’ll snap a picture of YOUR inner biker, and make sure you have an awesome souvenir picture of your experience to share with your friends – ready for you before you leave.

The night is actually very laid back and loosely structured – if you have questions, ask ‘em. There will be some ladies who have already grabbed their own handlebars who will be happy to share their experiences. We’ll also have some light refreshments. It’s really a good time.

Are you already a rider? Bring a friend and share YOUR spark, and you’ll get a “Share Your Spark” pin!

If you’d like to join us, we’d appreciate it if you would RSVP so we know how many people to expect. We do have a limited number of spaces, so please let us know soon. You can RSVP either via Facebook or by visiting www.libertyharley.com/women.
